The Blue Angels do not have a scheduled show in Orange Beach. The team is based at NAS Pensacola, Florida, about a short drive west along the coast, and that is where you can reliably watch them fly. Orange Beach is a great place to stay while you do it, and now and then the jets are spotted overhead on their way home.
This guide shows you where to see the Blue Angels from an Orange Beach base, what to expect at each viewing spot, and how to plan the trip if you are coming from Georgia.
TL;DR
- No Orange Beach show: the Navy’s published show schedule does not list a Blue Angels performance in Orange Beach.
- Best free option: watch a practice from the National Naval Aviation Museum flight line at NAS Pensacola. Practices usually start around 10:30 a.m. and last about 45 minutes.
- Biggest shows: the Homecoming Air Show at NAS Pensacola happens every November, and the Pensacola Beach Air Show happens in the summer. Check the official pages for current dates.
- Orange Beach flyovers: sometimes possible when the jets return to Pensacola after shows, but never guaranteed.
- Stay with us: book a beachfront condo or beach house in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores directly with the owner.

Will you see the Blue Angels in Orange Beach?
You might catch them, but you should not plan a trip around it. The Navy’s official show schedule lists no Blue Angels performance in Orange Beach. The photos and videos you see online of the jets over the Orange Beach shoreline are real, but they show the team passing through, not performing.
The local tourism office explains that visitors may sometimes see the Blue Angels over local beaches while the aircraft return to Pensacola after shows. The same page says an Orange Beach flyover is not guaranteed. That is the honest picture: a lucky sighting on a beach day is a bonus, not a plan.
If you want to be on the sand when it happens, a few habits help:
- Check the Navy schedule for shows the team flies on the weekend, since return flights follow those events.
- Keep your phone camera ready during morning and afternoon beach time.
- Do not cancel other plans waiting for a flyover. Treat it as a surprise.
Where to see the Blue Angels for sure
For a guaranteed view, go to Pensacola. From an Orange Beach rental you are looking at a coastal drive west into Florida, so give yourself extra time on busy mornings. Here are the options, from easiest to most event-driven.
National Naval Aviation Museum flight line
The museum’s Blue Angels practice page names the flight line north of the museum at NAS Pensacola as the public viewing area for practices. Key details from the museum:
- Practices begin at or around 10:30 a.m. and last roughly 45 minutes.
- Actual practice times vary, so check the museum’s page the day before.
- Viewing is free and open to the public.
- Selected Wednesday practices are followed by autograph sessions with the team.
This is the best value for a family. The jets fly close, the crowd is smaller than at an air show, and you can combine it with the museum itself.
Homecoming Air Show at NAS Pensacola
The team closes its season with a hometown show. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism says the Homecoming Air Show is held at NAS Pensacola every November. According to the official NAS Pensacola Air Show site, the 2026 edition is free, gates open at 8:00 a.m., and the show begins at 9:30 a.m. You can bring your own seating or buy paid seating.
Base access has its own rules. The Navy says visitors to NAS Pensacola public-interest areas must show one government-issued photo ID, such as a state driver’s license or a passport. Public access is generally 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through the West Gate, subject to the base’s visitor requirements. Every adult in your group should carry ID, and a Georgia driver’s license works.
Pensacola Beach Air Show
The annual Blue Angels show over the water is held at Pensacola Beach in summer. The Santa Rosa Island Authority currently shows the next one in mid-July 2027, with the official air show on the last day, and notes that details are still to be determined. Dates shift, so confirm before you book.
Visit Pensacola says Casino Beach is the center of the show and the best beach viewing location. It also says the Pensacola Beach show cannot be seen from Fort Pickens or from NAS Pensacola, so choose your spot based on the show you are attending.

Boats and other vantage points
Visit Pensacola also lists Fort Pickens, boats and the Pensacola Bay City Ferry as viewing alternatives for practices and shows. If your group loves the water, a boat-based view is a different way to spend the day.
Which viewing option fits your group?
| Option | Cost to watch | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Museum flight line practice | Free | Families, first-timers, short trips | Starts around 10:30 a.m., about 45 minutes, times vary |
| Homecoming Air Show | Free admission, paid seating available | Fans who want the full show | Held every November, photo ID required, gates open early |
| Pensacola Beach Air Show | Check the official page | Beach-and-show weekends | Casino Beach is the best beach spot, expect crowds |
| Orange Beach sighting | Free | Anyone on the sand | Possible, not guaranteed |
Planning the trip from Georgia
Many of our guests come from Georgia, and the Gulf Coast is a classic driving trip. A few planning tips make the Blue Angels part smoother.
- Pick your anchor first. Decide whether the practice, the Homecoming show or the summer beach show matters most. Then choose your dates around it.
- Build in a buffer morning. Practice times vary and base access closes in the afternoon, so do not schedule a tight drive on the day you want to watch.
- Pack ID for everyone old enough to need it. The base requires government-issued identification.
- Bring your own shade and seating. The museum flight line and air show grounds are open spaces. A folding chair, sunscreen and water go a long way.
- Keep the other days flexible. Use them for the beach, Orange Beach dining and the water.
Blue Angels weekends in Pensacola are popular, so rentals in the surrounding area fill early. If your date is tied to an air show, book as soon as you know your plans.
Where to stay: Orange Beach, Gulf Shores or Fort Morgan
Orange Beach is the closest of our three areas to Pensacola, which makes it a natural base for Blue Angels fans. If your group is split between beach lovers and air show fans, you can spend mornings in Pensacola and afternoons on the sand.

If you are still deciding between towns, our guide on choosing Gulf Shores or Orange Beach rentals walks through family trips versus boating trips. Gulf Shores has the big-beach, family-attraction feel. Fort Morgan is quieter, with a more relaxed, away-from-the-crowds setting.

Our perspective on Blue Angels trips
We hear from guests every year who want to “see the Blue Angels in Orange Beach.” Our honest advice is to treat Orange Beach as the home base and Pensacola as the show.
Here is how we think about it:
- The beach is the guarantee. The jets are a bonus. If you book a place you would be happy to stay in with no air show at all, the trip works either way.
- Space matters more than you think. Air show weekends often bring several families together. A condo or house with room for everyone beats splitting into hotel rooms.
- Talk to the owner. Because you book directly with the owner or manager, you can ask about check-in times, parking and early arrival. That is useful when you are heading out for an early gate opening.
- Plan for rest. An early morning at the flight line is more fun when you come home to a balcony, a pool or a quiet porch.
We built this marketplace so travelers can reach owners directly and skip the guest service fees found on large travel sites. For a trip with a fixed event on the calendar, that direct line is worth a lot.
